The Ministry of Town and Country Planning of the
Catalan government, through the company GISA, has invited tenders for the
drafting of a preliminary plan for the construction of a new 8,000-10,000
square meter terminal at Lleida-Alguaire Airport, as well as the enlargement of
the platform, the parking area and the existing access roads.
The new terminal will have an area for passengers transport, with a surface of
about 5,000 square meters, a commercial area with a minimum surface of 800
square meters, a leisure area of 1,000 square meters and a terrace of about 500
square meters.
The platform will be enlarged with 60,000 additional square meters, at both sides
of the current one, at the front of the new terminal and the future cargo
centre.
On Friday 23rd July the first commercial Air Nostrum
flights took up from Lleida-Alguaire Airport with destination Ibiza and
Menorca. The flights in these two new routes will operate two times per week
until the 5th of September, aiming to cover the increasing demand for these
destinations during the summer months.
With the two new routes, Lleida-Alguaire Airport offers a total of 6 destinations,
since apart from the Air Nostrum flights inaugurated last Friday, flights to
Paris, Palma de Mallorca, Milano and Frankfurt are already operating.

June last Pyrenees-La Seu d’Urgell Airport has been officially inaugurated,
after the completion of the remodelling and improvement works aimed to the
reopening of this infrastructure with total guarantee of safety and service
quality.
The
works, started at the end of November 2009, have meant a total investment of €
2.9m, enabling the reasphalting of the runway, the conditioning of the current
offices and services building, as well as the renovation of the terminal
building and the control tower.
The
Pyrenees-La Seu d’Urgell Airport has a 1,200 meters long by 28 meters wide
runway, with capacity for airplanes up to 17.5 meters long, and will receive
general aviation and emergency flights.
The
first stage of the infrastructure extension will involve the construction of 19
x 25-meter and 15 x 10-meters hangars; the contract for these extension works
will be awarded by public tender.
Last weekend (from the 22nd to the 24th of May) La
Seu Airport hosted the International Meeting of Mountain Pilots. The new
Pyrenees-La Seu d’Urgell Airport, that will be officially opened at the
beginning of June 2010, hosted this event that since 1970 has been celebrated
in seven European countries before: France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Austria,
Germany and Luxembourg. This meeting, which has served as a general rehearsal
for the new airport infrastructures, has enjoyed the presence of more than 120
attendees and almost 60 light aircrafts with 2 or 4 seats.
Today, May 6th 2010, the airline Air Nostrum announcedthe beginning of its operations from Lleida-Alguaire Airport, with two flights to Ibiza and Menorca, on Fridays and Sundays. The new services will start on July 23rd and will be operated during the entire summer season.The flights to Ibiza will depart from Lleida-Alguaire every Friday at 11:30 h and every Sunday at 9:15 h; the flights in the opposite direction, from Ibiza to Lleida, will depart at 9:45 h on Fridays and at 7:45h on Sundays.The flights to Menorca will depart from Lleida-Alguaireon Fridays at 11:10 h and on Sundays at 15:00 h. The returnflights from Menorca to Lleida will depart at 9:10 h on Fridays and 13:25 h on Sundays.
